Like all new residents entering the PAACS surgical training program at Bongolo, new arrival Dr. Noble was this week presented with a surgical textbook and clothed in the iconic white doctor’s coat as part of Bongolo’s White Coat Ceremony. In this solemn ceremony, the new trainee takes an oath before the hospital staff affirming his faith in Jesus Christ and committing, with God’s help, to uphold a specified set of ethical and moral principles honoring God and respecting future patients. Bongolo physician and missionary staff then gather around the resident and his family to pray for their lives, training, and future ministry in a kind of consecration as a Christian surgeon.

LA BLOUSE BLANCHE
Comme tous les nouveaux résidents entrant dans le programme de formation chirurgicale PAACS à l’hôpital de Bongolo, le nouveau venu, le Dr Noble, a reçu cette semaine un manuel de chirurgie et a revêtu l’emblématique blouse blanche du médecin dans le cadre de la cérémonie de la blouse blanche de l’hôpital de Bongolo. Lors de cette cérémonie solennelle, le nouveau stagiaire prête serment devant le personnel de l’hôpital affirmant sa foi en Jésus-Christ et s’engageant, avec l’aide de Dieu, à respecter un ensemble précis de principes éthiques et moraux honorant Dieu et les futurs patients. Les médecins de l’hôpital de Bongolo et le personnel missionnaire se rassemblent alors autour du résident et de sa famille pour prier pour leur vie, leur formation et leur futur ministère. Une sorte de consécration en tant que chirurgien chrétien.
